Woodhouse
"Woodhouse"
Archer's Valet / Former WWI Pilot / Former Heroin Addict / Deceased
Dossier
Woodhouse is Archer's long-suffering valet, raised Archer from infancy while Malory was off spying. A WWI pilot who served with the famous 'Double Deuce' squadron, Woodhouse's wartime experiences — including a tragic romance with a fellow soldier named Reggie — are revealed in flashbacks that contextualize his heroin addiction and devotion to Archer.
Archer's treatment of Woodhouse ranges from casual cruelty (making him eat spider webs, locking him in a trunk) to rare, genuine tenderness. Woodhouse's death in Season 8 (mirroring George Coe's real-life passing) is the emotional catalyst for Archer's coma dream (Dreamlands season).
The character is a tribute to the actors who voiced him: George Coe ( Seasons 1-6) and Tom Kane (Season 7+). Woodhouse represents the only pure, unconditional love Archer ever received — making his abuse of that love the show's quiet tragedy.
