Malory Archer is the founder and former director of ISIS, mother of Sterling Archer, and one of television's most magnificently terrible parents. A former OSS operative during WWII, she built ISIS from the ground up, often using questionable methods and government connections.
Malory's parenting style — neglect, manipulation, emotional abuse, and occasional genuine care buried under layers of narcissism — is the primary source of Archer's many issues. She's had affairs with numerous powerful men (possibly including Nikolai Jakov, Buddy Rich, Len Trexler, and an Italian prime minister), making Archer's paternity a running mystery.
Despite her flaws, Malory is fiercely protective of Archer in her own way. Her death in Season 12 (Jessica Walter's final performance) is one of the series' most poignant moments, with Archer finally calling her 'Mom' instead of 'Malory' or 'Mother.'
